Der C64 belauscht das Handy! SMS leicht verwalten ist nun mit unserem Lieblingsrechner möglich.

(wte) Immer neue Innovationen bereichern unseren Alltag. SMS ist eine dieser Neuerungen, die aus dem Alltag vieler Menschen nicht mehr wegzudenken sind. Dahinter verbirgt sich jedoch auch ein Phänomen, dass viele Jugendliche in den finanziellen Ruin treibt. Die Zahl der SMS-Süchtigen nimmt zu und selbst wer sich der Sucht entziehen kann, läuft Gefahr, in der Flut der erhaltenen und versendeten SMS den Überblick zu verlieren.

Doch jetzt kann dem Chaos abgeholfen werden. Es kommt Ordnung in die SMS-Sammlung. Teure SMS-Handys bieten Funktionen zum Archivieren von SMS-Nachrichten, manche auch eine Downloadfunktion für PCs. Doch es geht billiger. Die SMS können zukünftig auf einfache Weise mit dem C64 verwaltet werden. 

Möglich macht dies "SMS-Spy" (Version 0.2), ein neuer Geniestreich des ungarischen Programmautors Milos Seles. Neben der Software benötigt man natürlich ein Handy. Wenn das Programm auf dem C64 gestartet wird, entpackt es im ersten Schritt den komplexen Programmcode. Das Handy sollte jetzt so eingerichtet werden, dass es die herunterzuladende SMS anzeigt. Anschließend erwartet der C64, dass das Handy so bereit gelegt wird, dass er Kontakt zu ihm aufnehmen kann. Das Programm startet man mit einen Tastendruck, sobald es mit dem Scannen nach dem Handy beginnen soll. Kann kein Kontakt zum Handy hergestellt werden, erhält man eine Fehlermeldung. Eventuell muss man mit der Position des Handys etwas herumexperimentieren. Als besonders günstig soll sich eine Lagerung des Handys mit dem Display nach unten zwischen F-Tasten und normalem Tastaturblock erwiesen haben. 

Wenn die SMS-Nachricht übertragen wurde, öffnet sich ein Menü und man kann die Daten auf Diskette speichern. Es wird auch eine Option angeboten, zuvor den Datensatz manuell um zusätzliche Informationen zu erweitern. Leider bietet das Programm (noch) keine Datenbankfunktionen, so dass die abgelegten Files zur Archivierung erst in eine Datenbank importiert werden müssen. Aber vielleicht wird ja die nächste Programmversion um diese Funktionalität erweitert. 

Die Datenübertragung basiert auf einer Technologie wie sie auch von Geheimdiensten verwendet wird, um fremde Bildschirme auszuspionieren. Das schwache elektromagnetische Feld, das beim Refresh der LCD-Anzeige erzeugt wird, wird über den CIA-Chip vom C64 empfangen und durch das Programm decodiert. Das Empfangsprinzip basiert auf einem softwaregesteuerten Resonanzschwingkreises, wie man ihn auch aus der Bluetooth-Technologie kennt. Die auszumessende Strahlung ist außerordentlich schwach. Vermeiden Sie daher alle störenden elektromagnetischen Felder in unmittelbarer Nähe des Computers. Wegen der starken Abschirmung durch das Blechgehäuse funktioniert die Datenübertragung nicht mit einem C128 DCR. Auch C64-Emulatoren sind nicht in der Lage dieses Programm sinnvoll zu nutzen, da ein PC oder MAC keinen CIA besitzt.

(wte) Constantly new innovations enrich our life. SMS in one of these innovations and for many people it's hard to imagine to life without it. But behind this enthusiasm buries a phenomenon which drives many young people into financial ruin. The number of SMS junkies rises. However who can avoid the addiction runs into the risk to drown in the flood of sent and received SMS messages.

Now, it’s possible to stop the chaos. There is a possibility for more order in the SMS collection. High price SMS cell phones offer some functions to archive SMS messages, some of them have a download function for PC’s. But there is a cheaper way. In future, SMS messages can be easily managed with a C64.

"SMS-Spy" (version 0.2), a new stroke of genius of the Hungarian program author Milos Seles makes this possible. Amongst this software you naturally need a cell phone. If the program starts on the C64 it first unpacks the complex program code. The cell phone should be prepared that it shows the SMS message in the display which you wish to download. Afterwards you have to position the cell phone near the C64 so that the C64 can contact it. You have to start the program with a keystroke if it should begin with scanning for the cell phone. You will get an error message if the contact to the cell phone couldn’t be established. If necessary you have to rearrange the cell phone. A especially fine position should be the position between the function keys an the normal keyboard. And the cell phone display should be placed downwards.

A menu will be open after complete SMS message transfer. Now it is possible to save the data on disk. An edit option is available, too. It offers the possibility to add some information to the dataset manually. Unfortunately the program doesn’t offer any database function yet. So the stored files have to be imported into a regular database for archiving. But possibly the next version of the program will be improved and offers a database function, too.

The data transfer bases on secret technologies used by intelligence services to spy on foreign computer screens. The weak electromagnetic field, which is coming from the refresh signals of the LCD screen will be received by the CIA of the C64 and the program decodes the input. The reception principle bases upon a software controlled resonant circuit already known from the bluetooth technology. The radiation to be measured is extraordinary weak. You should avoid all interfering electromagnetic fields near your computer. The data transfer will not be possible with a C128 DCR because of the shielding of the tin case. Also a C64 emulator can’t use this program, because a PC or MAC has no hardware CIA on board.
